Coffee Shops
Several name brand coffee houses are located within one block of Uptown Centre. Starbucks has 2 Uptown locations at 549 Sixth Street and 610 Sixth Street. Waves Coffee House is located directly across the street at 599 Sixth Street. One half block to the south is Tim Horton’s at 524 Sixth Street.
Restaurants
There are over 30 restaurants within two blocks of Uptown Centre with everything from fast food to fine dining. Well known establishments include White Spot and IHOP. Local restaurants include Yianni’s, Mongo Bongo and Hi Dozo Sushi. Fast Food restaurants include McDonald’s, Subway, Papa John’s and Pizza Pizza. Royal City Centre mall offers a variety of food choices in the food court.
Banks & Business Services
All chartered banks and several credit unions have branches within one block of Uptown Centre for your daily banking. There are also a great number of professionals, including accountants, lawyers and insurance companies located within the office buildings in the Uptown area.
Shopping
Across the street from Uptown Centre is Royal City Centre shopping mall to the west and Westminster Centre to the south. Here you will find a wide array of shops and services including Save-On-Foods, London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart and Winners.
Recreation & Entertainment
Uptown Centre is only a short walk to historic Queen’s Park. Walk through the beautifully landscaped park or stroll down one of the neighbouring streets to look at the amazing turn of the century character homes. Queen’s Park also offers an arena with fitness facility and skating rink. The təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre (formerly Canada Games Pool) set to be completed in 2024, is nearby. The New Westminster public library is located at 716 Sixth Avenue. The Massey Theatre at 735 Eighth Street is the largest performing arts theatre in the Lower Mainland outside of downtown Vancouver.
